Day 7. Not only did today mark our first week in Japan, but it was also the first time I was able to meet Mel’s Japanese host family, the Shirakura’s. Being able to experience the generosity and kindness of a Japanese host family was amazing. They took us out for Yakiniku. The restaurant they chose was as awesome as the food. Each meat grill had a ventilation fan that sucked up all the smoke so you would leave the restaurant as fresh as you walked in.
I cannot begin to describe how kind the Shirakura’s were and I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. It was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the trip. I would also like to thank Yuko for being our translator for almost 8 hours 😛
